This painting was left to the Lytton family by John Forster, the friend and biographer of Dickens. It is one of the great history paintings executed by Daniel Maclise, famous for his work in the Houses of Parliament. It represents Edward IV visiting Caxton's printing press at Westminster and was inspired by Edward Bulwer Lytton's book The Last of The Barons
